Tri Delta Transit To Offer Free Classes On How To Ride The Bus
July 15, 2009
ANTIOCH, CA, July15, 2009 – Tri Delta Transit wants everyone to know how to ride the bus. To help make this a reality, they will host a series of classes designed to teach kids and adults alike how to ride. The first of these classes will be held on Monday, July 27 at 6:30 pm at their administrative offices in Antioch.
This initial class is aimed primarily at students starting school this fall but is open to anyone who wants to learn. “Whether you are a student or a working professional, the simple steps to riding the bus are the same,” said Tri Delta Transit Director of Marketing Mike Furnary. “Everyone will benefit from our how-to-ride classes. “
Many students in our community rely on public transportation to get them to and from school and each new school year brings with it several first-time riders. “Our goal is to make sure that everyone who rides our buses does so with confidence,” said Furnary. “Parents, too, should feel confident in their kids’ ability to get to and from school on the bus. By participating in this class, they will be able to see firsthand how their kids will be able to do so.” Many families in East County have two working parents making public transportation a vital resource. “We take our role in the community very seriously,” said CEO Jeanne Krieg. “We’re proud of the service we provide and are constantly looking at new ways to make it a viable option for everyone. “
Tri Delta Transit’s how-to-ride class will focus on basic guidelines to follow when riding the bus. Topics to be covered in the hour-long class include:
- How to read the schedule
- How to determine which bus you need
- Where and how to catch the bus
- How to pay your fare
- How to determine where to exit the bus
- How to safely exit and board the bus
- How to save the most money by purchasing the correct pass
The class will also offer individual trip planning services. “This will allow someone who has never ridden the bus to leave with an exact written plan on how to get from point A to B and back” said Furnary. “Our goal is to make sure that everyone who attends this class leaves confidently knowing they can use the bus to get to and from school or any place else desired.” Trip planning is also available on the Tri Delta Transit web site at www.trideltatransit.com.
The first how-to-ride class is scheduled for Monday, July 27 at 6:30 pm at Tri Delta Transit’s administrative office located at 801 Wilbur Avenue in Antioch. Future classes will be announced on their web site.
