Schedule Change Due To Operator Shortage

December 3, 2021

ANTIOCH, CA, December 3, 2021 – Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority (Tri Delta Transit) is changing bus schedules on Sunday, December 19th due to a severe bus driver shortage.

“Through the majority of the pandemic, Tri Delta Transit has had a very low case rate, but some individuals do not feel comfortable working so resignations are at an all-time high,” says Chief Operating Officer Steve Ponte. “This has resulted in transportation not being on time or not coming at all. This is not how we do business. We must now realize the hard truth that the schedule must change. We thank our riders for their patience during this difficult time.”

Tri Delta Transit will be lengthening the time between runs to an hour in between arrivals. This will allow for all runs to still continue so that no service routes are cut. CEO Jeanne Krieg says “We’ll be focusing on maintaining the school runs, as making sure students get to school is a top priority.”

Tri Delta Transit is working hard to hire as many bus operators as needed. Positions are available for operators as well as other necessary staff. To apply, visit Tri Delta Transit’s operator company First Transit’s website at workatfirst.com, select Careers, and then key in Antioch, CA. Positions have competitive rates, great benefits and, in some positions, signing bonuses.
