Director of Maintenance
Fleet maintenance is essential to our ability to deliver reliable transportation services for the residents of eastern Contra Costa County. Tri Delta Transit is looking for a passionate transformational leader who is committed to service and will advocate for, innovate, and implement effective changes to our maintenance operation. These changes impact the transportation and mobility programs, services, and activities throughout eastern Contra Costa County.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of vehicle and facility maintenance functions.
- Stay current on laws and regulations regarding transit vehicles, fuel, and charging.
- Advise the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer about regulatory changes that affect the operation, maintenance, and repairs of Tri Delta Transit owned vehicles.
- Provide strategic support to the Chief Operating Officer.
- Hire, train, manage, and evaluate the performance of the Shop Manager, Mechanics, Service Workers, Facilities Manager, Maintenance Coordinator, and Bus Stop and Facility Maintenance Workers.
- Maintain and monitor performance of zero emission vehicles and fueling infrastructure including hydrogen, Fuel Cell Buses (FCEB), Zero Emission Bus (ZEB), and Battery Electric Buses (BEB).
- Contribute and interact with industry work groups and associations related to vehicle maintenance.
Compliance Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer:
- Serve as the Civil Rights Officer
- Serve as the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison Officer
- Serve as the Safety Management System (SMS) Executive
- Serve as Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer
- Gather, analyze, and report FTA-related data related to SMS and DBE
- Facilitate the Safety Solutions Team Committee meetings
- Manage and maintain the functions of ECCTA’s Emergency Operations Center, including training and exercises
Mechanic – Position starts at $33.00/hour DOE, nights & weekends, excellent benefits. Applications being accepted on an ongoing basis. * rate starts 1/1/2025
To maintain Tri Delta Transit vehicles in an efficient, timely and safe manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. ASE Transit, Truck or School Bus Certifications preferred.
Experience
A minimum of one year of recent and verifiable experience as an automotive mechanic or a heavy-duty mechanic. Experience working with zero-emission buses is preferred.
Pre-Employment Testing
Final candidates will be required to pass a Federal Transit Administration pre-employment drug screen and Department of Transportation physical.
Tools
Possession of necessary tools to perform above duties, including approved safety toed shoes to be worn on the job.
License
Must have or be able obtain a Class B license with a “P’ endorsement. On-the-job DMV training will be provided. Applicants will not be considered if they have more than two moving violations and/or accidents on their driving record within the past three years.

Transdev contracts with Tri Delta Transit to hire, train, and employ bus operators. Transdev’s training program consists of classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction.

- $2,000 sign-on bonus for Non-CDL drivers**
- Starting rate for drivers is $23.92 to $33.75 per hour after training DOE (depending on experience)
